Seiko watchmakers often draw inspiration from their local history, culture and surroundings – the Presage Craftsmanship Series celebrates the Japanese ‘Takumi’ – timepieces which are individually handcrafted by master artisans combining Seiko’s latest watchmaking techniques with centuries of traditional artistry.
In this new design, the white enamel dial of this piece has a clear layout with a classic case style, whilst its muti-row bracelet fits comfortably on the wrist.
The enamelling on each ‘Craftsmanship Series’ limited edition dial is undertaken by Japanese Takumi craftspeople by hand, using traditional techniques usually found in art and design pieces.
This watch is powered by the new in-house built Seiko 6R55 calibre with an extended three-day power reserve.
Seiko Presage: Timeless looks, precise mechanical timekeeping; minimalistic watch designs with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.

This white enamel dial is brought to life by master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team. The new dial incorporates bold grey bar indexes designed to stand out on the exquisitely crafted enamel, a material whose lauded depth and immutability can also be found on Seiko’s very first wristwatch from 1913, the Laurel. The blue-colored hour, minute, and seconds hands contrast beautifully with the lustrous white dial.
This creation features a recently updated case design with refined angles and an elegant sense of proportion conceived to highlight the craft in each dial. Powered by one of Seiko’s latest in-house movements, Caliber 6R55, each watch has a power reserve extending to a full 72 hours, allowing wearers to remove their watch on Friday afternoon and return to it Monday morning without having to reset the time. This marks the first time that this three-day movement has appeared in the Presage Craftsmanship Series.
With the dual-curved sapphire crystal, the watch has a slimmer appearance on the wrist than many previous creations in the series. This creation comes on a handsome five-link stainless steel bracelet with super-hard coating.
Enamel Craftsman: Mitsuru Yokosawa
For almost half a century, Mitsuru Yokosawa has been expanding the boundaries of enamel, mastering time-honored techniques and gradually creating new ones. As his experience broadened, the layers of enamel he was able to apply became thinner and thinner. He is now able to apply a flawless enamel coat just 0.1 mm thin. Such precision requires not only exceptional visual acuity, but also the seemingly magical ability to make minute adjustments to the enamel composition based on fluctuations in humidity and weather conditions. Aptly, it would take the skills of a magician to create the face of the new Seiko Presage.
